commentary: Liberals and the Election
Description: (show) The economy has degenerated so badly that, regardless of which candidate wins, the nation will have to be placed on a war-footing. Neither candidate has told the truth about how bad the economy is. The next four years will require sacrifices from our citizenry, just like Americans were required during the Second World War. The Green Revolution is going to have to be scrapped, entitlements will have to be slashed, and confiscatory corporate taxes will have to be dramatically scaled back if the country is to survive. Corporate taxation is higher in the United States than anywhere else in the world. The United States Supreme Court has shredded the Constitution and endorsed immorality.
I do not know whether you're aware of it, but I believe that we are witnessing history being made. The two men running against each other [for president] have quite a number of differences between them, but also, in some ways, they are quite similar. Much of the controversy during the election concerns the economy and the way each is proposing its problems should be approached. This is especially interesting to most of us because President Obama has had four years to resolve it, but it has grown worse each and every year. To me, it is so bad that even if either man and his party truly want to solve it, it's going to take the entire nation being on a "war footing" in order to get them involved and shouldering the sacrifices required to truly solve it. It's easily understood that warfare requires sacrifices. War between nations requires the sacrifice of many lives on the battlefield, and on the home front, too, sacrifices have to be made because the hopes and dreams of those people must be set aside until the war is over and victory is an accomplished fact. As a nation, we haven't been on a war footing since 1945. That's 67 years ago. If a generation is deemed to be 20 to 25 years, that's at least three generations that have gone past. Vivid memories of a war footing remain only in that first generation, and that's my generation. It's old, and almost no one listens to it. My generation was born into what historians are now calling the greatest generation in American history. That was the generation that fought and won World War II on the battlefield as well as in the homeland, producing the materiel which enabled the victory on the battlefield to be won. It is the generation that produced the economy and the internal stability within the nation that enabled the fabulous wealth and power this nation has possessed the past 50 or 60 years. Are you aware that neither candidate is 67 years old, and neither are most of their advisors? A president does not have absolute control of the government. He does have considerable influence, but in one sense he is merely the public face of the party, and the party operates and administers in the Senate, the House of Representatives, and in the bureaucracy supporting that portion of the government. During this election campaign, neither candidate is willing to openly tell the citizens how bad the economy is in a practical way. I mean, no solution that they have given has been practical. They do provide numbers that are almost meaningless to the vast majority, and most seem to think that this can be solved with so many Bandaids. World War II was exactly what it is called. It was not a minor conflict involving Israel and Iran or Syria. World War II involved virtually the entire world. The economic crisis today is a world wide problem, and it will involve major sacrifices of the world's citizenry if this is ever going to be overcome. In World War II, the United States of America provided the leadership to help solve the problem on the battlefield. And today, as the world's economic superpower, we've got to supply the leadership regardless of what the other nations of the world do, or it will not be very long until nations are killing one another on the battlefields. Historically, war always follows economic crises as nations and their leadership attempt to solve the economic problem, recoup their losses, and divert the citizens' attention from their local problems by forcing their attention on winning the war. Americans are going to have to sacrifice some percentage of their entitlements like Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. The Green Revolution is going to have to be trashed in order for many very restrictive governmental regulations to be eliminated so that jobs can be created. Taxes are going to have to be adjusted. There is no shortcut around this. Are you aware that America has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world, and after the first of the year, it will be the world's highest? Let me tell you how this affects us. Do you know that an American-owned corporation that builds any product anywhere outside the United States and then sells it in America, that the corporation has to pay taxes to both the nation that it produced the product in and in America? This is the only nation in the world that requires this, and that all by itself is a tremendous burden to making a profit. It puts our corporate area in a tremendous disadvantage. And it's no wonder that corporations seek ways to get around this. And it's no wonder that jobs are lost. How did this happen? Well, the liberal regimes have done things like this double taxation to provide food stamps, rent supplements, and almost continuous welfare. Do you know that 1/3 of the babies born in hospitals in America are paid for from tax revenues? And then Obamacare is right on the horizon. There are two major things, to me, that make this the most important election since the Civil War, and there is no Abraham Lincoln on the horizon. The first of these two leads directly into the second, and it has a massive impact on the way things are. Do you remember me saying that if there is any Old Testament prophetic book that is written about the United States of America, it is Amos? God, speaking to the nation has a whole, says this through Amos: Amos 2:12 But you gave the Nazirites wine to drink, and commanded the prophets saying, ‘Do not prophesy!’ In America, the command, "do not prophesy," came from the courts, primarily the Supreme Court. Nazirites are a symbol of people who were not Levites, dedicated to God, disciplined, responsible, hardworking people, law-abiding, moral people. And how were they tempted? The United States itself places continuous temptation before these generally moral people, luring them into sin. The Supreme Court, including the Warren Court of the 1950s and '60s, has devastated our Constitution through its liberal reinterpretation of what the Constitution literally says, and in doing so, has opened the floodgates to permit what is clearly—according to God's laws—outright, blatant immorality to exist. Four current Supreme Court justices are in their late 70s and early 80s. President Obama has already appointed two very liberal justices: Elena Kegan and Sonia Sotomayor. If he has the chance to appoint even one more liberal justice along the lines of Ginsburg, America as we know it will cease to exist. And he has the chance if he wins to appoint four of them. If we want America to continue on a fairly even keel, the people are going to have to elect somebody other than him who has the opportunity to even up the Supreme Court. The second critical factor is America's already very immoral conduct. America needs leadership from a moral president, as well as moral leadership from the churches, and the outlook does not seem likely on either front. So my guess is that there is little hope in this area that America will repent. This is especially so if the present leadership is re-elected, because it will continue to accelerate the slide into the ditch. The die is already cast.
