Three things that Jesus had to go through for us to be saved

Description: (hide)

There are three components to Christ's composite sacrifice: His death through the shedding of His blood (paying for our sins), His broken Body (healing our diseased and broken bodies), and His Resurrection (forgiving us and giving us Eternal life as members of His family). Many in the Corinthian congregation, by despising Christ's beaten body with their careless lack of self-examination, reaped the consequences of disease and death. If we lightly treat Christ's role of His bearing our infirmities, diseases, and transgressions, we will also reap the same curses. Through consuming the bread worthily, we acknowledge that we have been joined to the body of Christ and our diseases (physical and spiritual) can be healed. Through partaking of the wine, we acknowledge that Christ paid the penalty for our sins. And because Christ rose from the dead, we can be forgiven, and we are assured that at our appointed time, we too will be resurrected to eternal life in the God Family. The Passover and the Days of Unleavened Bread cannot be separated. The symbols (wine representing Jesus' shed blood, broken bread representing the suffering Jesus' broken body received, and eating unleavened bread for seven days representing His life) become integrated spiritual emblems of our pilgrimage to the Promised Land of God's Kingdom.
