sermon: Do We Truly Honor God in Our Actions?
Given 07-Mar-20; Sermon #1532B; 47 minutes
We've all read the verses that state the inspired Words of Christ are profitable for doctrine, that the Word of God is the Bread of Life, and that we must be doers and not merely hearers of God's Word, but do we practice what it teaches? Throughout the greater Church of God, some people display carelessness in the keeping of the Sabbath, failing to recognize the Sabbath as "holy time." Some of God's people fund the Feast of Tabernacles with credit cards rather than with their savings, resulting in debt rather than blessing. Some young adults, forgetting that God has called them to a sanctified life, risk their future happiness by marrying outside the church, guaranteeing a life of misery and regret as they become "unequally yoked" (II Corinthians 6:14). Some men, failing to live up to Christ's admonition to love their wives as Christ loved the church, domineer over them like tyrants, forgetting that the Proverbs 31 woman is both submissive and in control of her life, not a battered-down servant. Some misguided Church of God parents no longer discipline their children and are reaping the fruit of disobedience: drug and alcohol abuse, premarital sex, and crime. Whenever we refuse to live by God's ways, rejecting His commands, we are in rebellion. In the end, we can be sure we will reap the horrible fruits of denying God's purpose for us.
