sermonette: Light of the Body

Ronny H. Graham
Given 01-May-21; Sermon #1595s; 17 minutes

Description: (hide)

The body's ability to absorb sunlight combats a host of diseases and ailments. Conversely, the deprivation of light result in a plethora of maladies, one of the best documented being dental cavities. The eye is the most developed organism on the earth, having two million nerve endings connecting the eye to the brain; the eye gives the lie to the theory of evolution. It is God and He alone who has the prerogative to determine what humans can view with impunity; Eve, looking at the fruit with lust, learned that lesson when she took of the fruit because it seemed pleasant to her. Israelites during the period of the judges learned a similar lesson, as they suffered because they "did what was right in his own eyes" (Judges 21:25) instead of obeying God's law. Matthew 6:22-23 warns us that, if our eye is spiritually blind, our whole body will be full of darkness. If we take their focus off the genuine Light of the World (John 8:12), we run the risk of being blinded by the lusts of the world and the pulls of the flesh.
