By now, we are probably all aware of the name of Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist who recently scolded world leaders at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York City on September 23, 2019. At that event she said publicly, fighting back tears and real anger—this was actually in the UN conference center:
People are suffering. People are dying, and dying ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is the money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you! For more than 30 years the science has been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away and come here saying that you're doing enough when the politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight.
(I wonder if the mainstream media fact-checked her on what she said.) Thunberg caught the public eye by starting weekly school protests outside the Swedish parliament a year ago. It snowballed into a worldwide movement of students walking out of class to protest the lack of action on climate change. In the intervening year, she has become a leading voice for a generation confronting the consequences of a warmer planet (as they say) and thus, she has become a darling of the liberal Left and all those climate activists out there. She has been put forward like this despite her being on the autism spectrum, perhaps with Asperger’s and obsessive-compulsive disorder, and frequent bouts of depression and illness. Yet she is out there doing all these things.
For this climate action summit, she arrived in New York Harbor in a zero-emissions—and very expensive—racing yacht (owned by the grandson of the Prince Rainier of Monaco) that sailed her across the Atlantic from Europe. The yacht—zero-emissions—has no kitchen, no heating, no refrigerator, and—get this—no bathroom. It generated the electricity for the electronics onboard (such as radio and navigational tools) with solar panels and wind turbines. She said at a press conference upon landing,
It is insane that a 16-year-old would have to cross the Atlantic Ocean to make a stand. The climate and ecological crisis is a global crisis, the biggest crisis that humanity has ever faced, and if we don't manage to work together and to cooperate and to work together despite our differences, then we will fail.
Then, when she needed to go home, a new crew was flown across the Atlantic to New York to sail her home.
And now, one of the most recent development is that she is among four (in the whole world) who have been named winners of the 2019 Right Livelihood Award, also known as the “alternative Nobel Prize.” The Right Livelihood Foundation said in a recent statement that she won the award “for inspiring and amplifying political demands for urgent climate action reflecting scientific facts.” It comes with a cash award of one million Swedish crowns. (The exchange rate is not good; it is only $103,000).
Upon being informed of this honor, Greta Thunberg said,
I'm deeply grateful for being one of the recipients of this great honor. But of course, whenever I receive an award, it is not me who is the winner. I am part of a global movement of school children, youth, and adults of all ages who have decided to act in defense of our living planet. I share this award with them.
She is also a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize for 2019, for which she is the frontrunner. It will be announced next Friday, October 11.
People have inquired about who is behind her, who is funding her. We already know that the grandson of Prince Rainier allowed her to use his boat to come across the ocean. Clearly, as a 16-year old, she is a willing accomplice of other, more powerful people or entities that are pushing her out to make this political agenda public. Her mother is an opera singer turned climate activist. It just so happens that Greta's weekly protests in Sweden coincided with the publication of her mother’s book on climate change. So, there was probably some linkage there, I'm sure. In addition—how many of you have a life coach? Well, she does. She has her own coach, a well-known climate activist from Germany by the name Luisa-Marie Neubauer. Neubauer is aknown quantity belongs to Bono’s One Foundation (you know Bono, the U2 frontman), which has several well-known wealthy financiers, including Bill and Melissa Gates and George Soros. I've ehardi n the news that Al Gore has been linked with some of the funding, and—I use this loosely—the "facts" she's using in her talks.
We are seeing this more and more these days—political parties and especially left-liberal private organizations using children to front their agendas. Anti-Second Amendment groups glommed onto Parkland High School shooting survivor, David Hogg, and used him to push their “get rid of guns” agenda. If you remember last year, the Pro-Open Borders activists exploited children coming over the border of the United States to gain support for their drive for policy change and to fight what President Trump was doing there on the border. The Green New Deal people used children to crowd into Senator Dianne Feinstein’s office to pressure her to change her stance on that alarmist climate change policy, in which much of the private economy of this nation would go under government control.
This has been happening for a long time; it is nothing new that nations and governments have used children to push their policies. Many nations have used children in recruitment ads and posters during wartime. Nazi Germany used the Hitler Youth as tools of propaganda to push its Aryan beliefs. Lenin and Stalin used children in Soviet propaganda—it even created a Cult of Youth in Russia. Palestinians, like Yasser Arafat, use children to assert Israeli cruelty and brutality. There was one very famous photograph that came out of all that; it was a picture of a boy throwing rocks at an Israeli tank, showing how they were victims, and they had to use rocks while the Israelis used these modern weapons of warfare. The boy died, and they called him a martyr to the cause.
In this way, as Isaiah 3:4, 12 says, children have become our leaders and our oppressors. Verse 5 reads,
Isaiah 3:5 The child will be insolent toward the elder, and the base toward the honorable.
I think we've seen a little bit of that. When a nation—or a whole civilization—has children telling it what to do, castigating the leaders, and demanding action based on emotion rather than common sense and facts, that civilization is in deep trouble. As verse 9 says,
Isaiah 3:9 Woe to their soul! For they have brought evil upon themselves.
