summary: God's chosen saints are not immune to the unavoidable and often neglected challenge of bitterness, a deeply rooted emotional condition causing severe spiritual and relational harm when left unchecked. We cannot evaluate bitterness from what happens to us, but from how we react to the negative circumstances. If we allow our vehicles to go without maintenance or our finances left unmanaged, we will suffer ruin. Similarly, when we neglect our relationship with Almighty God and others, bitterness will bourgeon out of control. Bitterness is more deadly than frustration as it is like a poison that springs from unresolved hurt, helplessness, or disappointment, leading to caustic sharpness in speech or behavior, defiling both ourselves and those around us. We can apply two approaches to resolve bitterness: 1.) a reactive approach recognizing and curtailing bitter behavior in the moment, exercising self-awareness and prayer, and 2.) a proactive approach acquiring a positive mindset focusing on gratitude, yielding to discipline and ascertaining God's shaping purpose in our trials (Hebrews 12:11). Rooting out deeply entrenched bitterness is essential for peace, holiness, and readiness before Almighty God, especially as we prepare our hearts for Passover.
